GIGABYTE Windows 8 S1185 Tablet & U2142 Ultrabook

We have some details today of two new devices from GIGABYTE, a Windows 8 tablet and a masterclass convertible ultrabook. The S1185 is a full HD IPS tablet that runs the Windows 8 or Windows 8 Pro OS and is targeted at both business and leisure use. The U2142 is a sleek Ultrabook, also running Windows 8 or Windows Pro 8 and gives users the option of using it as a tablet with touch capability or as an Ultrabook with the power of a notebook.
We’ll start off with some details for the GIGABYTE S1185 tablet. This has a 3rd generation Intel Core processor, Intel HD Graphics, 11.6-inch full HD IPS display with resolution of 1920 x 1080, a 5-megapixel rear camera as well as a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera and a 4000 mAh battery. It also has a keyboard kit that attaches magnetically, VGA and HDMI ports, GIGABYTE mouse buttons, Optical Finger Navigation for PC mode usage and of course the use of Windows 8 apps. The GIGABYTE U2142 Ultrabook on the other hand is a sleek convertible Ultrabook featuring innovative technology. It boasts a swivel hinge for converting it to use as either a tablet or an Ultrabook and it is powered with a 3rd generation Intel Core processor, either a 1.8GHz Core i3-3217U or 1.7 to 2.6GHz Core i5-3317U and Intel HD Graphics 4000. It sports an 11.6-inch display with resolution of 1366 x 768, 1.3-megapixel webcam and multi-connectivity ports.

The U2142 has up to 256GB mSATA solid-state drive and an extra 1TB of HDD so it has a huge amount of storage options and offers lightning quick speeds and excellent performance. It packs all of this into a unit weighing only 1.39kg (with battery and mSSD) or 1.49kg (with battery, mSSD and HDD) and dimensions are 339mm x 188mm x 20mm.
