HTC One vs Samsung Galaxy S3, high spec wrestle

The smartphone market is advancing at a rapid rate with technology improving all the time, with manufacturers working hard trying to come up with features and hardware to tempt consumers to their products. Today we are looking at the new kid on the block, the HTC One vs Samsung Galaxy S3 in a high spec wrestle.

HTC announced their new flagship smartphone at a simultaneous event in London and New York, and early signs for the company look good with the handset getting a mainly welcome response from the smartphone world. HTC has lost its way a little in recent times and has lost out to rival Samsung especially in the Android market, but this latest handset is the company’s attempt to fight back.
Display
The Galaxy S3 uses a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen with a 1280 x 720 resolution and 306ppi pixel density, while the new HTC One has a 4.7-inch Super LCD 1080p display with 468ppi.
Processor
Inside the HTC One is the new 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 quad core processor that is also inside the LG Optimus G Pro, while the Samsung has the 1.4GHz Exynos 4412 quad core chip.
RAM and Storage
The HTC One has 2GB of RAM and will be available in either 32GB or 64GB of on board storage, but this is not expandable further, and the Galaxy S3 has the option of 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB of internal storage that can be expanded by another 64GB via a microSD card.
Camera
Samsung has fitted an 8-Megapixel rear facing shooter with 1080p video capture, and around the front is a 1.9-megapixel front facer. The HTC One has a 4-megapixel custom camera that has been fitted with what HTC are calling an UltraPixel sensor with a 2.1 megapixel unit on the front.
Operating System
The Galaxy S3 in most areas is now running the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean OS along with the latest Samsung TouchWiz overlay, while the HTC will launch running the same version of Android along with HTC Sense 5.0.

Battery & Dimensions
The HTC One measures in at 137.4mm x 68.2mm x 9.3mm weighing 143 grams with a 2,300 mAh battery unit, which compares with the S3 that measures 136.6mm x 70.6mm x 8.6mm weighing 133 grams and uses a 2,100 mAh battery.
Price
Unlocked prices for the Galaxy S3 are now coming in at just under the £400 mark in the UK, while the HTC One has already gone up for pre-order priced at £510 SIM free with some networks offering the handset free on monthly plans costing £37.
The HTC One certainly looks good but the device will be launching around the same time Samsung is expected to officially announce the Galaxy S4, which could seriously affect the amount of sales the smartphone enjoys.
