Although many people are undoubtedly enjoying the use of the iPad mini, attention has already turned to the iPad mini 2. Since the release of the original iPad mini there have been rumors that the next iteration would have a Retina display as about the only criticism of the first iPad mini was that it lacked Retina. Now it seems increasingly likely that the iPad mini 2 will indeed feature a daring 324ppi Retina display and we wonder how important this is to you?
In January we told how Apple was reportedly assessing a Retina display for the iPad mini 2 as display panels were apparently being supplied to Apple to be evaluated and tested. Now there is news that not only will Apple be bringing the Retina display to the iPad mini 2 but that this display will have 324 ppi, that means more pixels per inch than even the current iPad 4 with Retina Display that has 264 ppi.
It’s reported that sources close to Apple suppliers in Taiwan claim that the initial production of the iPad mini 2 with Retina display and 324 ppi is being led by AU Optronics. The resolution of the iPad mini 2 Retina display is claimed to be the same as the fourth-generation iPad at 2048 x 1536, and that resolution is four times the resolution of the first iPad mini. However the iPad mini 2 ppi would be higher than the iPad 4 with the same resolution because of its smaller display size.
Plenty of consumers will be pleased to hear of the iPad mini 2 with Retina display and higher ppi although personally we’ve always found the display on the original iPad mini to be fine. There will be some though who decided not to purchase until it toted a Retina display and although nothing is yet confirmed for the iPad mini 2, this does look more and more probable. Previous rumors have regarded a possible iPad mini 2 release in March.
We’d like to hear your views on Retina display coming for the iPad mini 2. Maybe you already purchased the iPad mini and wish you’d waited for the iPad mini 2? Perhaps you’ve found the current iPad mini display to be perfectly adequate and don’t regret waiting for the 2nd generation iPad mini? Let us have your comments on this.
