Bring Official Meizu MX2 to USA and UK, yeah right

Although the major smartphone manufacturing names that we all know well continue to release excellent smartphones we shouldn’t forget that overseas brands are also coming up with some great devices. Meizu is an electronics manufacturer in China and following the success of the Meizu MX and MX4, the MX2 is on the way. It looks as though this is a real beauty and we think there are plenty of consumers who’d like to see the MX2 brought to the USA and UK, though sadly it doesn’t look likely.

It was only a few days ago that we first saw some grainy images of a handset purported to be the Meizu MX2 and the design of this handset blew us away, so much so that we hoped the Samsung Galaxy S4 for 2013 might appear with a revamped design reminiscent of the MX2. The Galaxy S3 was criticized by some when it launched because of its cheap, non-premium feel and obviously although Samsung can’t copy the MX2 we think that Samsung designers could take note of its sleek and classy appearance.
The Meizu MX2 has now been made official and the latest product page shows beautiful photos of the MX2 and only reinforces that we feel plenty of consumers outside of China would like to be able to pick up this phone. We’ve included a few photos here and you will see just what we mean. Many feel that the MX2 resembles the iPhone, especially the home button. There’s also a touch of the Galaxy S3 plastic back but somehow with the better-looking front the whole smartphone has a more notable appearance.

The phone is due to launch in mid-December with a starting price of ¥2499 and as far as specs and features go the MX2 has an impressive 1.6GHz MX5S quad-core processor, 4.4-inch display with resolution of 1280 x 800 and 347ppi, and 2GB of RAM with 16, 32 or 64GB of internal storage options. As well as this there’s an 8-megapixel back-illuminated rear camera with 1080p video capture and front-facing camera with 720p video recording, 1800 mAh battery, and the latest Meizu Android Jelly Bean-based operating system, Flyme 2.0.

The MX2 has GSM/GPRS/EDGE/WCDMA/HSPA+ connectivity but alas is unlikely to release outside China. The odds of it ever leaving China are virtually non-existent but we’d like to know what you think about this. Do you feel that the Meizu MX2 would achieve success outside of China? Would you be interested in purchasing it if it were to release in your region? Let us know with your comments.
