Nexus 7 official landscape docking station accessory coming soon

The Google Nexus 7 tablet made by Asus has been a smash hit since its release back in the summer when it was launched running the latest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system (now upgradable to 4.2.1). There are many happy owners of the Nexus 7 out there and no doubt many more who have it on their Christmas wish list and today we have good news as it seems a new Asus landscape docking station may come in time for Christmas.

This 7-inch tablet has flown off the shelves and has been pretty difficult to get hold of in many regions and is still selling in big numbers during the holiday season. Back in July we told readers about a Pogo dock for the Nexus 7 and more recently a Cube stand but now we hear news of what looks to be an official Asus landscape audio dock. Details are somewhat scarce at the moment although it appears to have a micro USB connector for operating and charging the Nexus 7 at the same time and also 3.5mm audio output utilizing pogo pins.
The docking station was spotted on the Japanese Asus website, as reported by Android Central, and is due for release in the early part of December. The price in Japan will be ¥3,480, equivalent to around US $41, which sounds pretty reasonable for an official accessory of this kind. As it’s already December 1 today let’s hope that this comes out very soon and is available in plentiful supply everywhere.

In case you’re thinking of purchasing a Nexus 7 tablet we’ll give you a brief rundown of the key specs and features. It has a 1.2GHz NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core Cortex A-9 processor, 7-inch LED-backlit IPS LCD display with resolution of 1280 x 800 and 216ppi, 1GB of RAM, 16 or 32GB of internal storage (non-expandable) and a 1.2-megapixel camera for 720p video. Of course it runs on the latest Android Jelly Bean OS and it also has Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, NFC and a 4325 mAh battery. Dimensions are 198.5mm x 120mm x 10.5mm and it weighs 340g.
